Over the past 6 months I have delved into developing apps for the AppStore. I teach a small class of kids between the ages of 10 and 13 how to program in Objective-C and how to write apps for the AppStore. As such I have spent a fair amount of time learning how to leverage Apple's Xcode IDE as well as how the process works in terms of writing, submitting and then managing apps on the AppStore.
Some advice to Apple:
1) Increase the number of app reviewers. The current turn-around time of approximately 5-7 days is too long. The goal should be 2-3 days. Especially when there is a minor fix or minor change, the delay of 5-7 days is too long.
2) Keep your standards. It is a good thing that Apple's AppStore has a certain set of standards and quality. Make sure that these standards are consistently applied however.
3) Allow a way for developers to "pay to accelerate the review process" - I would recommend constraining this option to once or twice a month (so that the corporations don't perpetually exercise this option) and the fee should be nominal ($25).
4) Apple in general should provide better QA tools for developers. I believe that some of these are built into Xcode but it's not easy to use these tools and not much documentation seems to exist. (maybe just my perspective)
